Text Box: Reintroducing Static Interactive

Text Box: Over the past couple of years, we’ve made some major changes. In July of 2005, like any growing company, we determined we needed to direct some
attention toward reflecting on how far we had come and where we needed to go in the future to meet the changing needs of our clients. The process included interviews with staff, clients  and other strategic relationships, research in the industry and of our competition. The result was a strategic document that
included a brand, communications and operations strategy.

As an IT company we were already providing exactly that.
But, the major finding of the report was that our clients were experiencing what we call the ‘Integration Gap’. A situation where a number of independent
consultants are hired to specialize in their area, but don’t communicate with one another.
Here’s an example of how that gap can manifest itself in an average small to medium size company, you may be able to relate…
Sample Scenario:
XYZ Co. is a successful manufacturer of widgets. They’ve been in business for about 15 years and the Owner/President of the company is happy to make a decent profit, but ready to achieve more. So, (in this case) ‘she’ begins to rally the team around innovative ideas to improve the current operating structure and capitalize on new opportunities. It soon becomes apparent that plans for
innovation are quickly forgotten about and little ever gets done to really move the company forward.
This pattern is completely frustrating to the Owner because her time is consumed by running the business and generating revenue and there is little to no time left at the end of her 12 hour day to start a new project. On the other side, staff have become de-motivated because they don’t understand how all these ‘ideas’ feed into the big picture. What is the big picture anyway? And, how are they supposed to fit all these special projects into their already busy schedules.
The Owner, wanting to get the ball rolling, begins to bring outside sources in. First comes a technology firm, then a web designer, later an HR company is hired to develop job descriptions and they all dig into their areas of expertise. But, the web designer develops a site that can’t be supported on the server even though the long term goal is to bring all data in-house. Job descriptions are developed but no one is assigned to site updates, which are expensive to outsource and could have been automated anyway. Now the Owner’s time and money are being spent patching the ‘Integration Gap’, where the key operating areas of the company don’t communicate to leverage each other under the
umbrella of a clearly defined direction for the company.
We recognize that in a perfect world everything happens sequentially, but that business is dynamic and ever changing.

We approach a project from any angle whether it’s specific to one area like technology or if a full solution is required including a strategic direction and help in multiple areas. Regardless of how we come at the issues we’ll have the big picture top of mind. Services include:
•      Strategic Planning
•      Project Management
•      Marketing
•      Technology

Text Box: Humour Break

Text Box: Two young engineers applied for a single position at a computer company. They both had the same qualifications. In order to determine which individual to hire, the applicants were asked to take a written test by the department manager.
Upon completion of the test, both men missed only one of the questions. The manager went to the first applicant and said, "Thank you for your interest, but we've decided to give the job to the other applicant."
"And why would you
be doing that? We both got nine questions correct," asked the rejected applicant.
"We have based our decision not on the correct answers, but on the question you missed," said the department manager. "Your fellow applicant put down on question #5, 'I don't know.' You put down, 'Neither do I.'"
