Text Box: TIP OF THE DAY Text Box: We’ve talked about Alpha House in the past—most recently in the July issue of the FUZE, when we invited you to participate in the Annual Fundraising Dinner. A big thank you to those of who attended and donated, the level of support this year was amazing!   To refresh your memory, Alpha House is an organization providing homes to women and their children who have left abusive relationships. Residents are able to live in the House for up to nine months while receiving counseling and other programs to help them regain their self esteem and succeed in the future. It is a great cause that is really making a difference in people’s lives.   But how do you communicate with the public about a place that is top secret? The location of the House is highly guarded due to security issues, so very few people know where it is or what it looks like. For many years the Board wanted to get out into the community and get the word out about what an incredible organization Alpha House is, but didn’t quite know how without anything tangible to share.   We worked with the Boards, Executive Director and membership to come up with a message that encompasses what the outcome of Alpha House is as opposed to the where it is. That message is Live Life Empowered. It encapsulates the challenge Alpha House presents to women who need to leave their abusive partner; the outcome of the Alpha House program; and to the general public, a challenge to also Live Life Empowered by supporting the women and children of Alpha House and spreading the word to help end the cycle of abuse.   How did we go about bringing it to life? We developed Wings of Empowerment pins that mimic the wings in the logo for supporters to purchase and pass on like a pay-it-forward mission. We also developed the Live Life Empowered Products program where local companies can participate by designating proceeds from the sale of a selected product to Alpha House. It’s all about building awareness and momentum.
